Rihanna Embraces the Western Cowgirl Trend in the Most Rihanna Way

Step aside, Barbiecore—there’s a new celeb-favored trend in town.

Over the past few months, Beyoncé and Bella Hadid have put an A-list twist on cowgirl dressing, doling out designer western-themed pieces from cowboy hats to embroidered leather boots. Now, Rihanna is seemingly getting an appetite for the trend—but she’s executing it in the most Rihanna way possible.

This past weekend, the “Love on the Brain” singer stepped out in Los Angeles wearing an all-black monochromatic look punctuated by a few subtle western pieces. Included among these were a pair of black faux-leather lace-up pants from Miaou and a fur-trimmed velvet jacket from Vivienne Westwood. But the real cherry on top was Rihanna’s purse du jour: a skinny Fendi bag circa 1999, bearing a pale pink and milk-chocolate brown cow print.

The mogul finished off the look with a few luxurious staples from Tom Ford, including leather padlock heels and tortoiseshell aviator sunglasses.

Rihanna has been nailing a streak of fashionable looks over the past few weeks.

She recently enjoyed a night out in Los Angeles in an outfit composed of a baggy white graphic T-shirt and faded distressed jeans, which she zhuzhed up with an ivory satin evening coat, pinched toe pumps, and layers upon layers of pearl necklaces. Prior to that, she was spotted dressed like a rock star in a long shaggy cheetah-print coat, black snap-button pants, slouchy combat boots, and a Metallica T-shirt from the heavy metal band’s …And Justice for All era.
